Welcome note from the LOC Chairperson

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Local Organizing, I am delighted to invite you to our 4th Regional Conference to be held in Nairobi on 13-15 November 2019 at the Radisson Blu Hotel. The Local organizing committee has continuously developed new ideas geared to making conference participantantto experience the ever evolving global professional and technological arena.

The 2018 Regional Conference theme “Land & Property Sector; Delivering on Africa Sustainable Development” has a clear and practical focus that is in sync with the Kenya government’s key development agenda dubbed the ‘Big Four’ agenda that cites affordable housing as one of the key pillars and focus areas that the government will be handling within the next five years.

This year’s theme resonates well with many private and public housing projects across our regionAffordable housing is indeed a key component for social and economic development and apparently a key priority for all the countries in the region. Sustainable development will therefore be of key interest in the conference. Other areas of interest will be Integrated Disaster Risk Management, emerging technologies in survey, emerging standards in real estate evaluation. This conference is also forward looking and we shall therefore take time to discuss mentoring tomorrow’s surveyor. The conference will culminate with two technical tours to enhance our key message and thematic areas.

We believe that this important conference will transform the way you conduct your work and business and also the way companies and governments conduct their businesses. It will also inform the training of future professionals by the various institutions.

I look forward to sharing this special three day learning experience with you. For our colleagues outside Kenya, we look forward to hosting you in Nairobi. Karibuni sana!

Hussein O. Farah, PhD, LOC Chairman
